Smyrna PD Investigating Fatal Collision With Electric Scooter

The Smyrna Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred yesterday involving an electric scooter.
On April 27, 2026, at approximately 4:54 p.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Greens Branch Lane near Eagle Way. At the same time, an 8-year-old girl, riding an electric scooter, was traveling North on Eagle Way towards Greens Branch Lane.
For circumstances still under investigation, the scooter and pick-up truck were involved in a collision.
The 8-year-old girl from Smyrna, DE, was taken to an area hospital, where she died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified. The driver of the Silverado, a 37-year-old man from Felton, DE, was not injured.
The roadway was closed for an extended time while the scene was investigated and cleared.
