On January 21, 2026, the Smyrna Police Department School Resource Officer assigned to Smyrna High School was notified of a student who made verbal threats against another student. Through investigation, the student who made the threat was identified as Kassidy Brown, 18, of Smyrna, DE. On January 14, 2026, two students attending Smyrna High School were contacted separately by the Smyrna Police Department's School Resource Officer and found to be in possession of a knife. Both students were immediately removed from the school, and it was deemed that no one was harmed as a result of these separate incidents.
