Student Arrested for Making Threat

On January 21, 2026, the Smyrna Police Department School Resource Officer assigned to Smyrna High School was notified of a student who made verbal threats against another student.


Through investigation, the student who made the threat was identified as Kassidy Brown, 18, of Smyrna, DE. Brown was subsequently contacted by SPD and found to be in possession of a lighter manufactured to closely resemble a firearm. Brown was immediately removed from the school, and no injuries were reported. Brown was charged with the crime listed below and released pending a future court hearing.


All suspects are presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

  • Terroristic Threatening (Class A, Misdemeanor)
