Smyrna PD Arrests Juvenile in Stolen Vehicle

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Smyrna PD officers on patrol observed a Dodge pickup truck traveling on US13 at Main Street. A computer check of the registration revealed that the Dodge had been previously stolen from Dover, DE. SPD attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it failed to stop. The Dodge continued to the area of Baldwin Drive, at which point the operator fled from the vehicle as it was in motion. The Dodge continued to travel unoccupied and collided with a utility box. SPD officers located the operator, and a brief foot pursuit ensued. The 17-year-old male from Dover, DE, was located and taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was taken to SPD, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Kent County Family Court, and released on a $3,000.00 unsecured bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Charges:
· Receive or Transfer Stolen Vehicle (Felony)
· Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
· Criminal Mischief (Felony)
· Resisting Arrest
· Leaving the Scene of a Property Collision
· Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign
