Robbery Investigation Leads to Arrest

The Smyrna Police Department has arrested 32-year-old Isaiah Council, of Wilmington, DE, following an armed robbery investigation.
On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 3:05 p.m., the Smyrna Police Department responded to the Smokiez Smoke Shop located at 239 N. Dupont Highway for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred.
The investigation revealed that upon entering the smoke shop, Council, while wearing a disguise, approached an employee and requested cigars. Upon receiving the cigars, Council then produced a black handgun and demanded vape products and money. Council then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of US currency and vape products.
Smyrna PD Detectives positively identified Council through investigative means, and on May 28, 2026, issued an arrest warrant for the charges listed below.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Council was contacted by the Wilmington Police Department regarding a separate incident. Smyrna PD then arraigned Council via video court in JP #11, where he was committed to the Department of Corrections in lieu of $125,100.00 cash bail pending a future court hearing.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
