Juvenile Arrested for Weapon Possession at Smyrna High School

On November 18, 2025, the Smyrna Police Department’s School Resource Officer assigned to Smyrna High School was notified of a student possessing what appeared to be a firearm within the Smyrna High School. This report was made after the school day had concluded.
On November 19, 2025, before the start of the school day, SPD, along with the Smyrna School District Constables, contacted this 16-year-old male student from Smyrna, DE. A search was conducted at which time a firearm, later determined to be a “BB style pistol”, was recovered.
As a result of this investigation, the juvenile was charged with the listed crime below. The juvenile was arraigned in the Family Court of Kent County and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date. All suspects are presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
