Smyrna Police make arrest in Monday night shooting.

Smyrna Police detectives have arrested a Smyrna man for the shooting incident that occurred on Monday, 3/4/24. On 3/6/24 at approximately 9 a.m., SPD, with the assistance of the Milford PD Special Operations Group, executed a search warrant in the 500 block of Sequoia Dr. During this search warrant, evidence from the shooting was located. Detectives identified the suspect as Theodrick Onley, 23, of Smyrna. Mr. Onley was not home during the execution of the warrant. A few hours later, Mr. Onley turned himself in to the Smyrna Police Department. Mr. Onley was processed and formally charged with the following crimes: Assault 1st degree, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and Reckless endangering 1st degree. Mr. Onley was presented via video court in JP #2, where he was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $112,000 cash bond. The victim in this incident remains hospitalized in stable condition. The SPD would like to thank the City of Milford Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
