For Immediate Release 4/27/21 @ 1218 hrs Officer releasing information: Lieutenant Brian M Donner, PIO Update #1 Smyrna Police detectives continue to investigate the shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Smyrna Middle School. Our investigators at this time are being assisted by members of the Delaware State Police. We can confirm that the victim, an adult female has been pronounced deceased. This homicide is believed to be domestic related. The sole suspect in this incident has been located after a police pursuit by multiple agencies into the state of Maryland. This investigation remains in its early stages and more details will be released as they become available. Smyrna school district remains in a modified lockdown. All students and staff are accounted for and there is no active threat to the public. At Smyrna Police Department’s request, the Delaware State Police homicide unit is assisting us in this investigation. The Smyrna Police Department is currently investigating a shooting which occurred in the front parking lot of the Smyrna Middle School at approximately 1015 am. The involved victim is not a student and there are no threats to school safety. This remains and active and ongoing investigation in its early stages and more information will be released as it becomes available.
