Smyrna Police Charge Heroin Dealer, Seize Drugs and Cash

SPD investigators recently concluded a month’s long drug investigation by arresting and charging a local heroin dealer. On Wednesday 11/13/19 in the morning hours, detectives took Ernest Jones, 30 of Smyrna into custody without incident on a traffic stop. Officers then responded to Mr. Jones residence in the unit block of W Commerce St, Smyrna and executed a search warrant. Inside of the apartment, investigators located 1,335 bags of heroin packaged for sale weighing approx. 9.345 grams. Also located was approx. $2,700 in suspected drug proceeds as well as Mr. Jones’ two small children. Mr. Jones was presented via video court in JP #2 on charges of; Possess a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity, Maintaining a drug property, Conspiracy 2nd, 2 counts Endangering the welfare of a child. Ernest Jones was transferred into the custody of the Dept. of Corrections in lieu of $15,500 cash bond pending a future court hearing.
