Smyrna Police arrest man after parking lot dispute.

Smyrna Police Officers have arrested a Townsend man after he threatened another man and his family during a parking lot dispute. On Thursday, April 11th, at approximately 8:30 p.m., SPD officers were made aware of a dispute between Shawn Evans, 34 of Townsend, DE, and another man and his family. Investigation revealed that Mr. Evans pulled behind the male victim’s vehicle in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts located at 349 N Dupont Blvd and began taking photos of his license plate. The male victim exited his vehicle to confront Mr. Evans, at which time Mr. Evans displayed a can of pepper spray at the victim and threatened to shoot him. Mr. Evans was found to be in possession of pepper spray as well as a CO2 rubber ball gun. During this dispute, the victim’s wife and 3 minor children were present in the car. Mr. Evans was taken into custody without incident and transported to SPD where he was charged with the following crimes: 3 counts of Endangering the welfare of a child, Reckless Endangering 2nd, Terroristic threatening, and Menacing. Mr. Evans was presented via video phone in JP #7 where he was released on his own recognizance pending a future court hearing.
