High Visibility Crime Reduction Initiative Nets Several Arrests

Smyrna Police teamed with several area allied agencies in a high visibility operation recently to target wanted persons as well as drug and nuisance activity. SPD was assisted by Clayton Police, Cheswold Police, Probation and Parole, Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, Dept. of Corrections and Delaware State Police Troop 9 in this operation. This initiative took place on Wednesday 2/12 and targeted the Smyrna area. In total, Officers arrested 32 adults on various charges and court issued capiases and warrants. 25 wanted persons were apprehended for their outstanding warrants and were arraigned via video court in JP #7. 7 adult suspects were arrested for new drug charges. Officers made 36 traffic arrests as part of this campaign and issued one criminal summons for an alcohol related offense. During this operation, officers seized a small quantity of Methamphetamine as well as marijuana. The SPD would like to thank our allied agencies for coming to assist us in this operation as their help is instrumental in the mission to keep Smyrna safe.
